Scale Overview
The Gender Stereotyping Scale for Adolescents was developed by Foshee, V. A., Linder, F., MacDougall, J. E., & Bangdiwala, S. (2001). It is designed to measure Gender Stereotyping. The scale is intended for use with Adolescents.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 11 items organized into 2 factors/subscales: Relationships, Attitudes Towards Women.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Strongly disagree, 2 = Disagree, 3 = Agree, 4 = Strongly agree.
The scale includes 4 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 11 to 44. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Gender Stereotyping: 11 – 22
- Moderate Gender Stereotyping: 23 – 33
- High Gender Stereotyping: 34 – 44
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
