The California Q-Set Self-Report Adaptation and Big Five Inventory (CCQ-Self / BFI) was developed by Jack Block (CCQ/CAQ), Oliver P. John (BFI) (2000). It is designed to measure Personality Traits. The scale is intended for use with Children, adolescents, and adults.
Scale Structure

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Extremely uncharacteristic, 2 = 2, 3 = Somewhat uncharacteristic, 4 = 4, 5 = Neither characteristic nor uncharacteristic, 6 = 6, 7 = Somewhat characteristic, 8 = 8, 9 = Extremely characteristic.
The scale includes 52 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 1 to 9. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low: 1 – 3
- Moderate: 4 – 6
- High: 7 – 9

Administration
