Scale Overview
The Career Values Inventory (CVI) was developed by Student Employment and Career Centre, University of Saskatchewan (Unknown). It is designed to measure Career Values. The scale is intended for use with Adults and students.

This instrument consists of 41 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 4 = VERY IMPORTANT – You could not go without this / give this up., 3 = IMPORTANT – You like this; it would be good / nice to have., 2 = NEUTRAL – Undecided; you feel no strong emotion towards this one way or the other., 1 = NOT IMPORTANT – This is something you could easily go without or may choose to avoid altogether..
Scoring
Item scores are averaged to produce a mean score.
Total scores range from 41 to 164. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low overall value alignment: 41 – 82
- Moderate overall value alignment: 83 – 123
- High overall value alignment: 124 – 164
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Not reported.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
