Scale Overview
The Organizational Culture Profile – OCP was developed by Charles A. O’Reilly, Jennifer A. Chatman, & David F. Caldwell (1991). It is designed to measure Person-Organization Fit. The scale is intended for use with Employees and job applicants.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 54 items organized into 7 factors/subscales: Innovation, Stability, People orientation, Outcome orientation, Easygoing, Detail orientation, Team orientation.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Most uncharacteristic, 2 = Quite uncharacteristic, 3 = Fairly uncharacteristic, 4 = Somewhat uncharacteristic, 5 = Neutral, 6 = Somewhat characteristic, 7 = Fairly characteristic, 8 = Quite characteristic, 9 = Most characteristic.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 1 to 9. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Preference / Uncharacteristic: 1 – 3
- Moderate Preference / Neutral: 4 – 6
- High Preference / Characteristic: 7 – 9
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of High profile correlation reliability.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
