Scale Overview
The Perceived Organizational Innovativeness Scale – PORGI was developed by H. T. Hurt & C. W. Teigen (1977). It is designed to measure Perceived Organizational Innovativeness. The scale is intended for use with Employees and organization members.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 25 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Strongly Disagree, 2 = Disagree, 3 = Undecided, 4 = Agree, 5 = Strongly Agree.
The scale includes 11 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 25 to 125. Interpretation guidelines:
- Laggard / Traditional (Low Innovativeness): 25 – 49
- Late Majority (Moderate Innovativeness): 50 – 70
- Early Majority (Moderate Innovativeness): 71 – 90
- Early Adopter (High Innovativeness): 91 – 110
- Innovative (High Innovativeness): 111 – 125
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
