Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Once a week or more, 2 = A few times a month, 3 = A few times a year, 4 = Less than once a year, 5 = Never.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 12 to 60. Interpretation guidelines:
- High frequency of discrimination/harassment: 12 – 24
- Moderate frequency of discrimination/harassment: 25 – 48
- Low to no frequency of discrimination/harassment: 49 – 60
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Alpha coefficients of .73 (Discrimination) and .84 (Harassment) reported for the abbreviated version..
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 4 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
