The Collective Efficacy Scale – CE-Scale (Long Form) was developed by Roger D. Goddard, Wayne K. Hoy, & Anita Woolfolk Hoy (2000). It is designed to measure Collective Teacher Efficacy. The scale is intended for use with School Teachers and Faculty.

This instrument consists of 21 items organized into 2 factors/subscales: Group Competence, Task Analysis.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Strongly Disagree, 2 = Disagree, 3 = Somewhat Disagree, 4 = Somewhat Agree, 5 = Agree, 6 = Strongly Agree.
The scale includes 10 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Item scores are averaged to produce a mean score.
Total scores range from 100 to 900. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Collective Efficacy: 100 – 399
- Average Collective Efficacy: 400 – 600
- High Collective Efficacy: 601 – 900

Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of 0.94.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
