The Organizational Health Inventory for Secondary Schools – OHI-S was developed by Wayne K. Hoy, C. John Tarter, & Robert B. Kottkamp (1991). It is designed to measure School Organizational Climate. The scale is intended for use with Secondary school teachers and administrators.

This instrument consists of 44 items organized into 7 factors/subscales: Institutional Integrity, Initiating Structure, Consideration, Principal Influence, Resource Support, Morale, Academic Emphasis.

Response anchors: 1 = Rarely occurs, 2 = Sometimes occurs, 3 = Often occurs, 4 = Very frequently occurs.
The scale includes 9 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 200 to 800. Interpretation guidelines:
- Very Low (Standardized Score): 200 – 390
- Low (Standardized Score): 400 – 480
- Average (Standardized Score): 490 – 510
- High (Standardized Score): 520 – 600
- Very High (Standardized Score): 610 – 800
