Scale Overview
The Teacher Perceptions of Parent Efficacy for Helping Children Succeed in School was developed by Hoover-Dempsey, K. V., Bassler, O. C., & Brissie, J. S. (1992). It is designed to measure Teacher Perceptions of Parent Efficacy. The scale is intended for use with Teachers.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 7 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Disagree very strongly, 2 = Disagree, 3 = Disagree just a little, 4 = Agree just a little, 5 = Agree, 6 = Agree very strongly.
The scale includes 2 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Item scores are averaged to produce a mean score.
Total scores range from 1 to 6. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Perceived Efficacy: 1 – 2
- Moderate Perceived Efficacy: 2 – 4
- High Perceived Efficacy: 4 – 6
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 3 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
