Scale Overview
The Friendship Compassionate and Self-Image Goals Scale (F-CSIGS) was developed by Jennifer Crocker & Amy Canevello (2008). It is designed to measure Compassionate and Self-Image Goals. The scale is intended for use with Adults.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Not at All, 2 = A little, 3 = Somewhat, 4 = A lot, 5 = Extremely.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 1 to 5. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Goal Orientation: 1 – 2
- Moderate Goal Orientation: 3 – 3
- High Goal Orientation: 4 – 5
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of High internal consistency (see Crocker & Canevello, 2008).
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
