Scale Overview
The Low Self-Esteem Scale – LSES was developed by S. Hunt, K. Singer, S. Cobb (1967). It is designed to measure Self-esteem. The scale is intended for use with Adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 11 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Agree, 0 = Disagree.
The scale includes 3 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 11. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Self-Esteem: 0 – 4
- Moderate Self-Esteem: 5 – 8
- High Self-Esteem: 9 – 11
