Scale Overview
The Self-Regulation Scale – SRS was developed by Ralf Schwarzer (1999). It is designed to measure Self-Regulation. The scale is intended for use with Adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 10 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = not at all true, 2 = barely true, 3 = moderately true, 4 = exactly true.
The scale includes 3 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 10 to 40. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Self-Regulation: 10 – 20
- Moderate Self-Regulation: 21 – 30
- High Self-Regulation: 31 – 40
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's alpha typically ranges from .70 to .80.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 3 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
