Scale Overview
The The Functions of Self-Criticizing/Attacking Scale – FSCS was developed by Paul Gilbert, Margaret Clarke, Sue Hempel, Jeremy N. V. Miles, and Chris Irons (2004). It is designed to measure Functions of Self-Criticism. The scale is intended for use with Adults.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = Not at all like me, 1 = A little bit like me, 2 = Moderately like me, 3 = Quite a bit like me, 4 = Extremely like me.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach alpha of 0.92 for both Self-Correction and Self-Persecution subscales.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
