Scale Overview
The Unconditional Self-Acceptance Questionnaire – USAQ was developed by Chamberlain, J. M., & Haaga, D. A. F. (2001). It is designed to measure Unconditional Self-Acceptance. The scale is intended for use with Adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 20 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Almost always untrue, 2 = Usually untrue, 3 = More often untrue than true, 4 = About equally true and untrue, 5 = More often true than untrue, 6 = Usually true, 7 = Almost always true.
The scale includes 11 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 20 to 140. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Unconditional Self-Acceptance: 20 – 59
- Moderate Unconditional Self-Acceptance: 60 – 99
- High Unconditional Self-Acceptance: 100 – 140
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
