Scale Overview
The Self and Peer Assessment Form – SPAF was developed by J. Goldfinch & R. Raeside (1990). It is designed to measure Peer and self-assessment of group project contribution. The scale is intended for use with Higher education students and project team members.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 7 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = No help at all to the group in this respect, 1 = Not as good as most of the group in this respect, 2 = About average for the group in this respect, 3 = Better than most of the group in this respect.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 21. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Contribution: 0 – 7
- Average Contribution: 8 – 14
- High Contribution: 15 – 21
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
