Scale Overview
The CYDS Family Assessment Scale was developed by Patrick H. Tolan, Deborah Gorman-Smith, Rudolf H. Moos, David H. Olson (1991). It is designed to measure Family Functioning and Environment. The scale is intended for use with Adolescents and families.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a 4-point Likert scale (1 = Strongly Disagree to 4 = Strongly Agree).
The scale includes 12 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 10 to 40. Interpretation guidelines:
- Negative Beliefs About Family: 10 – 20
- Moderate Beliefs About Family: 21 – 30
- Positive Beliefs About Family: 31 – 40
