Scale Overview
The Family Celebrations Index – FCELEBI was developed by Hamilton I. McCubbin and Anne I. Thompson (1987). It is designed to measure Family Celebrations. The scale is intended for use with Families.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 9 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = Never, 1 = Seldom, 2 = Often, 3 = Always (or Not Applicable).
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 27. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low celebration frequency: 0 – 9
- Moderate celebration frequency: 10 – 18
- High celebration frequency: 19 – 27
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 3 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
