The Family Emotional Involvement and Criticism Scale – FEICS was developed by Shields, C. G., Franks, P., Harp, J. J., Campbell, T. L., & McDaniel, S. H. (1992). It is designed to measure Expressed Emotion. The scale is intended for use with Adults and adolescents.

This instrument consists of 14 items organized into 2 factors/subscales: Perceived Criticism, Emotional Involvement.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Almost Never, 2 = Once in a While, 3 = Sometimes, 4 = Often, 5 = Almost Always.
