Scale Overview
The Parent Report on Child’s Close Friends – PRCCF was developed by Conduct Problems Prevention Research Group (CPPRG) (1990). It is designed to measure Parental perception of peer deviance. The scale is intended for use with Parents of children and adolescents.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 10 items organized into 4 factors/subscales: Trouble with adults, Parental disapproval of friends, Parental concern over negative influence of friends, General peer trouble.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: Items 1-9: 1 = Very much, Items 1-9: 2 = Somewhat, Items 1-9: 3 = A little, Items 1-9: 4 = Not at all, Item 10: 1 = Never, Item 10: 2 = Almost never, Item 10: 3 = Some, Item 10: 4 = Frequently, Item 10: 5 = All the time.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Total parental concern: alpha = 0.87 (High risk), 0.88 (Normative).
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
