The Traditional Family Ideology Scale – TFIS was developed by B. C. Muthayya (1967). It is designed to measure Traditional Family Ideology. The scale is intended for use with Adults.

Respondents rate each item using a 5-point Likert scale (1 = Strongly Disagree to 5 = Strongly Agree).
The scale includes 3 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.

Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 40 to 200. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Traditionalism (Democratic/Modern Orientation): 40 – 93
- Moderate Traditionalism (Mixed Orientation): 94 – 146
- High Traditionalism (Autocratic/Traditional Orientation): 147 – 200
