Scale Overview
The Community Integration Questionnaire – CIQ was developed by Barry Willer, Mitchell Rosenthal, Jeri Kreutzer, William A. Gordon, & Ronald Rempel (1993). It is designed to measure Community Integration. The scale is intended for use with Individuals with traumatic brain injury (TBI) or physical disabilities.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 15 items organized into 3 factors/subscales: Home Integration, Social Integration, Productivity.

Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 0 to 29. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Community Integration: 0 – 10
- Medium Community Integration: 11 – 20
- High Community Integration: 21 – 29
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of 0.91 to 0.97.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
