The Goal Commitment Measure was developed by John R. Hollenbeck, Howard J. Klein, Charles L. Williams (1989). It is designed to measure Goal Commitment. The scale is intended for use with Adults, employees, and students.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 9 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Strongly Disagree, 2 = Moderately Disagree, 3 = Neutral, 4 = Moderately Agree, 5 = Strongly Agree.
The scale includes 6 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Item scores are averaged to produce a mean score.
Total scores range from 1 to 5. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Commitment: 1 – 2
- Moderate Commitment: 2 – 3
- High Commitment: 3 – 5

Administration
