Scale Overview
The Random Events Knowledge Test (REKT) was developed by Turner, N. E., & Liu, E. (1999). It is designed to measure Knowledge of random events and gambling fallacies. The scale is intended for use with Adolescents and adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 22 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a dichotomous True/False format.
The scale includes 12 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 22. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Knowledge / High Susceptibility to Fallacies: 0 – 11
- Moderate Knowledge: 12 – 17
- High Knowledge / Low Susceptibility to Fallacies: 18 – 22
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 8 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
