Scale Development & Technical Details
Scale Overview
The Athletic Injury Self-Efficacy Questionnaire – AISEQ was developed by Milne, M., Hall, C., & Forwell, L. (2005). It is designed to measure Athletic Injury Rehabilitation Self-Efficacy. The scale is intended for use with Injured athletes.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 10 items organized into 3 factors/subscales: Task Self-Efficacy, Barrier Self-Efficacy, Scheduling Self-Efficacy.
| Factor / Subscale | Items | N |
|---|---|---|
| Task Self-Efficacy | 1,2,3 | 3 |
| Barrier Self-Efficacy | 4,5,7 | 3 |
| Scheduling Self-Efficacy | 6,8,9,10 | 4 |
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = 0% (No confidence), 10 = 10%, 20 = 20%, 30 = 30%, 40 = 40%, 50 = 50% (Moderate confidence), 60 = 60%, 70 = 70%, 80 = 80%, 90 = 90%, 100 = 100% (Complete confidence).
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 0 to 100. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Self-Efficacy: 0 – 49
- Moderate Self-Efficacy: 50 – 79
- High Self-Efficacy: 80 – 100
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of High internal consistency (subscale alphas typically range from 0.82 to 0.91).
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
