Scale Overview
The Adjustment Inventory Questionnaire (AIQ) was developed by Adapted from Bell’s Adjustment Inventory (1968). It is designed to measure Adjustment. The scale is intended for use with Students and young adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 275 items organized into 5 factors/subscales: Home Adjustment, Health Adjustment, Social Adjustment, Emotional Adjustment, Educational Adjustment.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a dichotomous Yes/No format.
The scale includes 123 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 275. Interpretation guidelines:
- Excellent Adjustment: 0 – 50
- Good Adjustment: 51 – 100
- Average Adjustment: 101 – 150
- Unsatisfactory Adjustment: 151 – 200
- Very Unsatisfactory Adjustment: 201 – 275
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of High internal consistency and test-retest reliability.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
