Scale Overview
The Conflict Resolution – Individual Protective Factors Index (IPFI) was developed by J. Phillips, F. Springer (1992). It is designed to measure Conflict Resolution. The scale is intended for use with Adolescents and youth.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 12 items organized into 2 factors/subscales: Self-Control, Cooperation.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = YES!, 2 = yes, 3 = no, 4 = NO!.
The scale includes 6 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 12 to 48. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low level of conflict resolution skills: 12 – 29
- High level of conflict resolution skills: 30 – 48
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
