Scale Overview
The OECD Long-Term Disability Questionnaire was developed by J.R. McWhinnie / Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) (1981). It is designed to measure Physical and sensory disability. The scale is intended for use with General adult population.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 16 items organized into 3 factors/subscales: Sensory Functioning, Physical Functioning & Mobility, Activities of Daily Living (ADL).

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = Yes, without difficulty, 1 = Yes, with minor difficulty, 2 = Yes, with major difficulty, 3 = No, not able to.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 48. Interpretation guidelines:
- No or minimal disability: 0 – 8
- Moderate disability: 9 – 24
- Severe disability: 25 – 48

Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Not specified.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
