Scale Overview
The Therapy Attitude Inventory – TAI was developed by Elizabeth V. Brestan, Sheila M. Eyberg, Stephen R. Boggs, James Algina (1999). It is designed to measure Parent satisfaction with parent-child therapy. The scale is intended for use with Parents and caregivers participating in parent training programs.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 16 items organized into 2 factors/subscales: Core Treatment Satisfaction, Supplemental Items.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = 1 (Least Favorable), 2 = 2 (Somewhat Unfavorable), 3 = 3 (Neutral / No Change), 4 = 4 (Somewhat Favorable), 5 = 5 (Most Favorable).
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 10 to 50. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Satisfaction: 10 – 29
- Moderate Satisfaction: 30 – 39
- High Satisfaction: 40 – 50
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of 0.91.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
