Scale Overview
The Civic Responsibility Survey – High School Version (CRS-HS) was developed by Furco, A., Muller, P., & Ammon, M.S. (1998). It is designed to measure Civic Responsibility. The scale is intended for use with Adolescents / High School Students.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 24 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Strongly disagree, 2 = Disagree, 3 = Slightly disagree, 4 = Slightly agree, 5 = Agree, 6 = Strongly agree.
The scale includes 1 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 24 to 144. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Civic Responsibility: 24 – 64
- Moderate Civic Responsibility: 65 – 104
- High Civic Responsibility: 105 – 144
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
