The Prosocial Parental Involvement – Seattle Social Development Project (PPI-SSDP) was developed by Arthur, Hawkins, Pollard, Catalano & Baglioni (2002). It is designed to measure Prosocial Parental Involvement. The scale is intended for use with Adolescents.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 7 items organized into 2 factors/subscales: Opportunities, Rewards.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = NO! / Never or almost never, 2 = no / Sometimes, 3 = yes / Often, 4 = YES! / All the time.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 7 to 28. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Parental Involvement: 7 – 14
- Moderate Parental Involvement: 15 – 21
- High Parental Involvement: 22 – 28
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 3 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
