Scale Overview
The Social Functioning Questionnaire – SFQ was developed by Peter Tyrer (2005). It is designed to measure Social Functioning. The scale is intended for use with Adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 8 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = Varies by item (see item text), 1 = Varies by item (see item text), 2 = Varies by item (see item text), 3 = Varies by item (see item text).
The scale includes 1 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 24. Interpretation guidelines:
- Mild or no social dysfunction: 0 – 8
- Significant social dysfunction: 9 – 24
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
