Scale Overview
The Multidimensional Measurement of Religiousness/Spirituality – Forgiveness Subscale (MMRS-F) was developed by Ellen L. Idler, Fetzer Institute/National Institute on Aging Working Group (2003). It is designed to measure Forgiveness. The scale is intended for use with Adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 10 items organized into 5 factors/subscales: Confession, Forgiveness by God, Forgiveness by Others, Forgiveness of Others, Forgiveness of Oneself.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Always or almost always, 2 = Often, 3 = Seldom, 4 = Never.
The scale includes 5 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 10 to 40. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Forgiveness: 10 – 20
- Moderate Forgiveness: 21 – 30
- High Forgiveness: 31 – 40

Administration
