Scale Overview
The Iranian Religious Coping Scale – IRCS was developed by Aflakseir, A., & Colman, P. G. (2011). It is designed to measure Religious Coping. The scale is intended for use with Adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 22 items organized into 5 factors/subscales: Religious Practice, Negative Feelings toward God, Benevolent Reappraisal, Passive, Active.

Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 22 to 88. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low use of religious coping: 22 – 44
- Moderate use of religious coping: 45 – 66
- High use of religious coping: 67 – 88

Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Religious Practice: .89, Negative Feelings toward God: .79, Benevolent Reappraisal: .79, Passive: .72, Active: .79.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
