The Spirituality Perspective Scale – SPS was developed by Pamela G. Reed (1986). It is designed to measure Spiritual Perspective. The scale is intended for use with Adults, including elderly and terminally ill populations.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 (Items 1-4) = Not at all, 2 (Items 1-4) = Less than once a year, 3 (Items 1-4) = About once a year, 4 (Items 1-4) = About once a month, 5 (Items 1-4) = About once a week, 6 (Items 1-4) = About once a day, 1 (Items 5-10) = Strongly Disagree, 2 (Items 5-10) = Disagree, 3 (Items 5-10) = Disagree more than agree, 4 (Items 5-10) = Agree more than disagree, 5 (Items 5-10) = Agree, 6 (Items 5-10) = Strongly Agree.
Scoring
Item scores are averaged to produce a mean score.
Total scores range from 1 to 6. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low spiritual perspective: 1 – 2
- Moderate spiritual perspective: 2 – 4
- High spiritual perspective: 4 – 6
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Typically reported Cronbach's alpha > 0.90.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
