Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 35 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: variable = Response formats vary by item (multiple choice, Likert scales, and ranking tasks).
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 135. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low friendship orientation (common in clinical populations, e.g., ASC): 0 – 25
- Moderate friendship orientation: 26 – 50
- High friendship orientation: 51 – 135
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of High internal consistency and test-retest reliability.
Administration
