Scale Overview
The Management of Shame and Management of Pride Scales – MOSS-SASD & MOPS was developed by Valerie Braithwaite, Eliza Ahmed (2011). It is designed to measure Workplace Shame and Pride Management. The scale is intended for use with Working adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 26 items organized into 4 factors/subscales: Shame Acknowledgment, Shame Displacement, Narcissistic Pride, Humble Pride.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Definitely not, 2 = Unlikely, 3 = Unsure, 4 = Probably, 5 = Definitely.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Shame Acknowledgment alpha = .80; Shame Displacement alpha = .86; Narcissistic Pride alpha = .91; Humble Pride alpha = .86.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 8 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
