The Short Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Rating Interview – SPRINT was developed by Kathryn M. Connor, Jonathan R. T. Davidson (2001). It is designed to measure Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The scale is intended for use with Adults (18+ years).
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 8 items organized into 7 factors/subscales: Intrusion, Avoidance, Numbing, Arousal, Somatic Distress, Stress Vulnerability, Functional Impairment.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = Not at all, 1 = A little bit, 2 = Moderately, 3 = Quite a bit, 4 = Very much.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 32. Interpretation guidelines:
- Below threshold for PTSD assessment: 0 – 13
- Warrants further assessment for PTSD: 14 – 32
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of 0.88.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
