The Henry Ford Hospital Headache Disability Inventory (HDI) was developed by Jacobson GP, Ramadan NM, Aggerwal SK, Newman CW (1994). It is designed to measure Headache Disability. The scale is intended for use with Adults.

This instrument consists of 25 items organized into 2 factors/subscales: Emotional, Functional.

Response Format

Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 100. Interpretation guidelines:
- Mild Disability: 0 – 28
- Moderate Disability: 29 – 56
- Severe Disability: 57 – 100
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
