Scale Overview
The Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire – PAR-Q was developed by Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (2002). It is designed to measure Physical activity readiness. The scale is intended for use with Adults and elderly.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 7 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a dichotomous Yes/No format.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 7. Interpretation guidelines:
- Cleared for physical activity: 0 – 0
- Consult a physician before starting physical activity: 1 – 7
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 3 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
