Scale Overview
The Protection Amount Frequency Adjustment Body Image Score – PRAFAB was developed by Mulders A.F.P., Vierhout M.E. (1990). It is designed to measure Urinary incontinence severity and psychosocial impact. The scale is intended for use with Adults experiencing urinary incontinence.

This instrument consists of 5 items organized into 2 factors/subscales: Severity, Impact.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Level 1 (Lowest severity/impact), 2 = Level 2, 3 = Level 3, 4 = Level 4 (Highest severity/impact).
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 5 to 20. Interpretation guidelines:
- No objective or subjective complaints: 5 – 5
- Mild incontinence impact: 6 – 10
- Moderate incontinence impact: 11 – 15
- Severe incontinence impact: 16 – 20
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Good test-retest reliability and construct validity.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 2 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
