Scale Overview
The Simple Shoulder Test – SST was developed by Lippitt SB, Harryman DT, Matsen FA (1993). It is designed to measure Shoulder function and pain. The scale is intended for use with Adults with shoulder complaints.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 12 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a dichotomous Yes/No format.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 12. Interpretation guidelines:
- Severe limitation: 0 – 4
- Moderate limitation: 5 – 8
- Mild or no limitation: 9 – 12
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
