The term Hypalgesia” refers to a heightened experience of pain (beyond the normal degree that might be expected in a medical situation that is due to damage to nociceptors, or peripheral nerves) and that cause a hypersensitivity to stimulus. An example of this the peripheral neuropathy that is caused by diabetes.
