VICARIOUS

adjective. supplementary or second-hand: applied, for instance, to the gratification supplied by observing the encounters of other people in television programs. It is largely thought that human conditioning of fear reactions can happen through means, and that satisfaction of requisites can be, in part, achieved by observing the behavior of other people.

VICARIOUS: “It is said that some people who missed out on their teenage or college years due to a becoming a parent at a young age, often attempt to live vicariously through their children down the road.”
