VESTIBULOCOCHLEAR NERVE

the 8th cranial nerve: a sensorial nerve comprised of tracts which innervate both the sense of hearing and that of equilibrium. It has two segments, the vestibular nerve, starting inside the semicircular canals and the vestibule, and the auditory nerve, starting inside of the cochlea. Commonly referred to as cranial nerve VI.

VESTIBULOCOCHLEAR NERVE: “The vestibulocochlear nerve conveys impulses to the pons and medulla oblongata from the inner ear, and contains fibers which go on into the cerebellum and cerebrum. “
