TRANSACTIONAL ANALYSIS (TA)

a theory of personality and a type of dynamic group or sole psychotherapy centering upon typical interactions which uncover interior ego states and the games individuals play in social scenarios. Particularly, the approach comprises: (i) a study of three main ego states and identification of the one that is dominant within the transaction being questioned; (ii) determination of the tricks and expedients persistently utilized within the patient’s transaction; and (iii) analysis of the total script, or unconscious plan, of the patient’s life, in effort to reveal the causes of their emotional difficulties.
