THIRST

the feeling elicited by a requirement for more fluid intake in effort to keep up an optimum balance of water and electrolytes within the bodily tissues. Water is lost from the body mainly in sweat, urine, and via the lungs. Dehydration elicits lessened generation of saliva and the sensation of a “dry mouth.” Also, a specialized region of the hypothalamus within the brain identifies and reacts to the fluctuations in osmotic pressure which stem from escalated concentration of electrolytes in extracellular fluid following water loss.

THIRST: “Water is the best beverage one can choose to quench their thirst.”
