THERAPEUTIC COMMUNITY

a setting for individuals requiring therapy for a wide array of psychosocial difficulties and disorders which is based upon an interpersonal, socially interactive approach to remediation, among both staff and residents. The word encompasses a multitude of short- and long-term residential programs in addition to day remediation and ambulatory programs. The staff is generally multidisciplinary and might be comprised of human services professionals and doctors rendering vocational, cognitive health, educational, medical, legal, and fiscal services, among others.
