PROPRIATE STRIVING

In the concept as put forth by Gordon W. Allport, Propriate Striving emerges in adolescence with the search for identity. The concept goes on to state that experimentation is common among adolescents before they make long-range commitments. Adolescence is considered significant as a time of conscious intentions and planning for the future begins to direct the personality.

PROPRIATE STRIVING: “Allport proposed that there were eight stages of proprium development, with striving being the last.”
