Open Adoption

Open adoption is characterized by both the adoptive and biological families’ access of each other’s personal information and having the option for maintaining personal relationships. In this form of adoption, the adoptive parents have the rights as legal parents and they choose to open the contact, in differing degrees, with the biological parents. For instance, the adoptive and biological parents agreed that the child may be periodically visited; specifically during his birthday, graduations, and Christmas.
