NEONATAL PERIOD

describes the period of time following the birth of a child up to 1 month of age where they become an infant. Excluding humans, the neonatal period fluxuates between species, for example in dogs, the neonatal period lasts from 12 to 14 days whereas in rats it is up to 21 days.
